Simple Fabric Dolls

Create unique hand stitched dolls with simple patterns and guidance from fiber artist Mary Fortuna. Dolls will be created using fabrics, felts, beads, yarn, and other materials. This is a beginner friendly class, with dolls being adapted to each students' skill level individually. Junior Stitch Club: Session I

In this class, kids can learn the basics and safety of operating a sewing machine while creating their own unique sewn projects! Young learners will go over essential sewing techniques, tools and terminology. Projects will cater to students' individual interests and abilities, building confidence in mastering basic stitches to completing fun projects like purses/satchels or plushies. This course is the first in a series of Youth Sewing classes, going from Fall 26' - Winter 27', where each session builds on the skills learned in the previous one! Sewing machines are limited; the instructor may only have one machine that students can use during class. If you are bringing your own machine: verify the machine is in working order (can stitch a straight line), send the instruction manual with your student in case of troubleshooting, please provide 4 universal needles and 2 spare bobbins All other materials are included; fabric, thread, etc. + extra materials are available

September 17, September 24 October 1, October 8, October 22, October 29 November 5, November 12, November 19 December 3, December 10, December 17 Instructors: Alyssa Brieanne Jordan, Kristy Kurjan Pricing: $7 fee per session/per child! $25 punch cards for 4 sessions are available for purchase at the front desk Young artists will have an opportunity to engage in themed activities while exploring various art methods, guided by their grown-ups. Line, shape, texture, and color will be introduced through the use of paint, paper, pastels, and other various mediums. Each week different projects will be introduced. Come ready to create your own art adventure! Experimentation is encouraged. Drop-In’s the day of are welcome, but space is limited! It is highly encouraged to register for your dates ahead of time, as only those who are pre-registered are guaranteed entry, and the class has a cut off for the amt. of students per day in order to be sustainable for our instructors.

High School Portfolio I

Materials Included? Yes; students are encouraged to bring a sketchbook and any of their own supplies to use alongside the supplies given. Are you a creative teen preparing for art school or just looking for a creative space to make fun projects? In this 12-week program, students will dive deep into a variety of artmaking mediums, including but not limited to: drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, paper art, and more. Projects will be self-lead and built around each individual's interests and creative vision. This is a positive, creative atmosphere that encourages group critique and collaborative conversation around art. A second session of this class will be available in the spring- where students can continue to work on their projects! Both classes culminate in a group exhibit of their work, held at CTAC-TC. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE: Need-based / merit-based scholarships are available for High School Portfolio and may cover up to 80% of the tuition fee! To apply for a financial scholarship, click here. To be considered for a merit-based scholarship, contact Maren Kilpatrick (maren@crookedtree.org) to schedule an interview. Some 8th grade students may also be considered for the program! With recommendation from an art teacher, mentor, CTAC faculty, and/or a review of their work. Homeschool students are also welcome to register! Fabric Flowers

Students will use scraps of fabric and felt to create a bouquet of hand stitched flowers! Led by fiber artist Mary Fortuna, and following simple patterns, students will be able to customize their flowers to their own liking. Students can also use references of real flowers or succulents as inspiration, and can personalize their bouquets to their liking through beads, buttons, feathers, and more.
