Teddy Bear Sleepover - dropoff

Have you ever wondered what Teddy Bears do at night if left alone in the library? Now is your chance to find out. Children are encouraged to bring their Teddy Bear (or other favorite stuffie) into the library anytime on Friday, October 16th and fill out a tag telling us about your Teddy. Your Teddy Bear (or stuffie) will then spend the night in the library with all of the other Teddy Bears (or stuffies), exploring and playing in the library. Youth Services staff will be nearby taking pictures, which you can view at our Mama Sugar Bear author event on Saturday, October 17th at 11 a.m. Your bears (or stuffies) can be picked up at the Mama Sugar Bear event or at the Youth Services desk, if you're not able to come to the Mama Sugar Bear event.

Family Fun with JUGGLING!

Drop by the library for Family Fun with Juggling. Special guest Patchwork Pear Performer will join us for a 30 minute SHOW at 4pm and will have a variety of juggling props for kids to try. No pre-registration needed. All ages welcome! Hands-on active fun with crafts and activities. A snack will be provided.

CASPER - $1 Kids Matinee

Join us at the State Theatre for this weekend's $1 Kids' Matinee - CASPER! STEAM and Lego Free Play

Mama Sugar Bear - teddy bear event

Join us for a fun filled author event as author Katie Bosch reads her book Mama Sugar Bear: A tale that's a little bit true, a children's book set in Leelanau County about a mischievous mama bear and her sweet tooth. After the reading, we'll have bear themed activities, including a video showing what all our teddy bears did in the library for their Teddy Bear Sleepover. Snacks provided.

4-H Health Corps - Dare to Dream Vision Board

Tweens Dare to dream ... Turn your dreams into reality! Come explore your aspirations as you connect with community youth cultivating confidence by setting and reinforcing goals by creating your very own Dream/Vision Board. This club is designed to nurture positivity, resilience, mindfulness and creativity through positive encouragement to celebrate your talents and reach for the stars. This fun and upbeat club may enhance overall focus and growth from the inside out through an upbeat, introspective and engaging hands-on approvach with cool music, yummy snacks and more. All supplies are included, however please feel free to bring additional magazines/books for yourself or to share with others. Lake Leelanau – Food & Baby Pantry

LCN’s Baby Pantry provides diapers, wipes, toys, food and clothing for families, parents and care-takers that might otherwise have difficulty providing them. In 2024, 30,782 diapers were distributed to our tiniest neighbors through the baby pantry. Donations may be dropped off at LCN on Mondays between the hours of 9 AM and 2 PM. We welcome donations of most new or gently used baby supplies: Diapers, especially the larger sizes – 4, 5 and 6 Wipes New or gently used clothing. We especially need clothes in all of the toddler sizes. Please freshly launder gently used clothing items before donating. Food and formula that is within its shelf life date Baby toiletries - shampoo, powder, diaper cream, etc. Bibs, blankets, bottles, sippy cups, etc. New or gently used baby toys Maternity clothes Diaper Bags Maternity/Nursing Bras

Bricks & Build: Learn to build Motorized Lego models

Calling all tweens aged 9 - 12 who enjoy LEGO©s- bring your bricks to life! Use a custom motor to add movement to LEGO© bricks and learn fundamental simple machine concepts through our designs. The goal is for children to relate these concepts to real-life applications by building fun, interactive models.

Anime Club

Do you read manga? Watch anime? Love cosplay? Revel in fandoms? Join us! We will watch a few episodes of the chosen anime and will have a craft available to do. This program is part of "Teen After School" and will be geared toward 7-12 grade students.

Glen Lake Playgroup

Play & Learn

Play is the path young children take to learning. Children learn best when meaningful play is both challenging and fun! Interlochen Public Library’s Play & Learn is on Tuesdays 10 am-11am, for ages 5 and younger. It follows the "science of play" and specializes in creating intentional play environments to set children up for both learning success (IQ) and emotional development (EQ). We combine meaningful play with a dynamic and developmentally appropriate learning environment to expand children's cognitive, social, emotional, language, and motor abilities. Wigglers Storytime

Join us for Wigglers Storytime! Ms. Beth engages our early and pre-readers with movement, music, crafts, and stories, to develop literacy, social skills, and confidence!
