Explore the full comic-creation process, beginning with brainstorming original story ideas and developing unique characters with distinct personalities and backstories. Along the way, learn about the history and artistic evolution of comics and graphic novels, discovering how visual storytelling has grown from early comic strips to today’s popular graphic novels and manga. Practice comic design techniques including page layout, panel composition, pacing, dialogue writing, inking, and coloring methods. Through guided lessons and creative challenges, experiment with expressive drawing styles while learning how images and words work together to tell powerful stories. By the end of the class, you'll create an original comic or graphic novel pages to take home and share.
