About This Event
Sgraffito, which originates from the Italian word for scratch, is an accent technique used in ceramics to create a decorative design on ceramic work. A layer of color underglaze is added to the piece, and simple carving tools are used to scratch through the color to the contrasting clay body below to allow the pattern to stand out. Each student will use a mold to create a plate or platter. While the work is drying, students will be shown examples to help inspire creativity. Feel free to bring images or patterns from home that inspire you. Objective: Skill Development, Creativity Enhancement Outcome: Creation of Artwork, Inspiration and Creativity, help spark creativity.
